Job Description
Responsible for coordination and management of a diverse program of preclinical and translational development projects in the Research Program. Maintain project timelines in an effort to meet milestones. Prioritize and allocate Core resources to the projects. Work closely with scientists on study design. Ensure timely submission of grant applications and progress reports.
Develop and maintain study timelines for 6-8 pre-clinical research teams in the Research Program. Work closely with study teams to ensure regular progress to achieve external and internal milestones. Attend weekly laboratory and team meetings; prepare agendas and actions items for team meetings. Prioritize and allocate Core resources to the projects; ensure timely submissions of application and progress reports. Distill information into biologically relevant findings which are communicated to the team in writing and/or verbally. Coordinate preparation of institutional and federal submissions (e.g., IRB, IND, grant applications) and other reports as needed.
Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects across entire Research Program.  Projects vary significantly in nature, complexity and scope, and are supported by variety of sponsors, including NIH, industry, and foundations. Projects encompass all stages of R&D, starting with early discovery research all the way through formal non-clinical translational studies.
For unfunded projects, Project Manager will work closely with major internal (PI, Operations Team, Laboratory Management, Science Team) and external (Sponsors, Facilities, CROs, Subcontractors, Collaborators) stakeholders to develop project plans and to coordinate submission of proposals.
For funded projects, Project Manager will prioritize and allocate Core resources in support of all GTP projects. Cores are designed to support multiple projects, and include Vector Core responsible for vector manufacturing, Cell Morphology Core responsible for histopathology, Immunology Core responsible for innate and cellular immunology studies, Quality Control Core responsible for the quality of vectors, and Process Development responsible for improvements in the vector manufacturing cycles. For funded projects, Project Manager will ensure completion of project milestones, coordinate timely preparation and submission of progress reports, assure statistical significance of study outcomes, maintain timelines, generate meeting notes, distribute actionable items, and follow up with the Project Teams to ensure their timely completion.

The minimum of a Ph.D. (preferably in life sciences) and 3-5 years of project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.   PM certification is desired. Strong applied math/statistics background. Ability to interact professionally with key internal investigators, as well as external academic, for-profit, and non-profit organizations. Ability to work with all levels within the organization from senior management to technicians. Ability to work independently and to perform well under pressure and embrace dynamic environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent oral & written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong computer/technology skills including MS Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project (or other similar Project Management tools).
