Job Description
Skills and qualifications will ideally include:
  • Strong theoretical background with a PhD in statistics, mathematics or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Strong team contributor with effective leadership abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in communicating statistical concepts to non-statisticians
  • Broad experience in statistical data analysis, and expertise in areas such as experimental design, linear/nonlinear models, mixed effect models, data mining, Bayesian methods, and statistical learning
  • Programming proficiency and Experience with relevant software tools such as R, Mathematica, SAS, Pipeline Pilot, Stan, Spotfire, and Matlab
  • Basic understanding of cell biology and human physiology.
Main responsibilities:
  • Using statistics you will work with discovery projects and therapeutic areas to identify and deliver solutions for addressing key biological questions
  • Building or internalizing, appropriate algorithms and techniques to answer defined biological questions
  • Implementing and developing solutions with appropriate software
  • Ensuring that results are scientifically robust and documented.
The candidate will:
  1. Provide statistical support including statistical design and data analysis of clinical trials, and to perform secondary data analysis to support opt trials and publications. 
  2. Work with project team to decide on appropriate animal study design and statistical methodology for routine designs. Advise on the development of randomization schedule, sample size and power calculations. Responsible for assuring that data for statistical analyses are accurate.
  3. Advise on the implementation of protocol methodology and statistical analysis plans. Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of statistical input into reports or decisions. Advise on the development of alternative analysis strategies when changes to planned analyses are needed.
  4. Responsible for computer programs that are accurate, efficient and well documented. Demonstrates understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies. Assists in the development of the Statistical Methods section. Responsible for accuracy of statistical tables and data listings, and accuracy of report text. Identifies and corrects flaws in interpretation of results, inconsistency in presentation or inference. Ensures accuracy of report text and consistency between summary tables in the body of reports and the corresponding statistical tables and listings.
  5. Responsible for statistical methods. Identifies and corrects common flaws in interpretation of results, inconsistency in presentation or inference. Works collaboratively with peers to develop quality study protocols, CRF, schema, and reports per agreed timelines. Communicates an understanding of basic clinical principles for his/her project and acts in accordance with those principles. Can clearly communicate basic statistical concepts to other scientists and nonscientists.
